Multiple different web sites / one project and one hosting?
I am studying the concept of bases in Jet MVC ...
Should I understand that it is possible to run several different websites with different designs / layouts within one project and on one web hosting?

Yes, you got it absolutely right! That is exactly what this concept is designed to do.
You can create any number of bases representing different sites or parts of an online application. Nothing limits you. Each base has its own layout, each site can have its own design.
On the other hand, you can share modules and application classes between bases and other parts of the project.
